Green Lake Goes Green: Earth Week Celebrations at Latona Pub Include Keg Walk and Fundraisers for Watershed Preservation

Celebrate Earth Week at Latona Pub in Seattle with their annual keg walk, in which non-motorized patrons walk kegs of beer from different breweries across the city to the pub, starting from Georgetown on Saturday, April 15th, with subsequent walks on the 17th and 18th. Fundraisers for watershed preservation will also be held at the pub throughout the week, leading up to an Earth Day event benefiting Washington Wild’s Brewshed Alliance on Saturday, April 22nd, at the Green Lake neighborhood venue.

Green Lake's Gig Workers to Receive Paid Sick Time Under New Seattle Law

Seattle's city council has passed a law requiring app-based delivery companies to give gig workers paid sick time off, expanding on temporary legislation passed last year. The App-Based Worker Paid Sick and Safe Time Ordinance will cover food delivery workers from May and expand to other companies by January 2024, though not all gig work apps will be covered, as per a memo from the city council, citing examples like dog-sitting app Rover.

Green Lake joins new City Council District 6 boundaries in Seattle's redistricting plan

Seattle is updating its City Council District boundaries to balance representation in city government, based on Census data of a 21% population growth over the past decade. The new boundaries will come into effect in 2024 and include changes such as Green Lake being part of District 6.
