The Snohomish County Council recognized Cinco de Mayo as a day of celebration over oppression with Resolution 23-020, in honor of Seattle-based Mexican-American artist Alfredo Arreguín who passed away in April, and his contributions to the Mexican community abroad. Arreguín's art can be found in collections and museums throughout the world, including the National Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum in D.C., Seattle Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, and even in Lynnwood City Hall, where his 2009 piece on oil canvas, Green Lake, hangs.
